    Welcome to Bitterne Spiritualist Church

    You are warmly invited to visit our church. Our website provides information about our Divine and Healing Services, Coffee Mornings, Special Events, Workshops, and Development Groups. We hope you find what you’re looking for, but if you have any questions, please contact us and we will be happy to assist.

    Our church is a registered charity in England and Wales (No. 1160231). Bitterne Spiritualist Church is affiliated with the Spiritualists’ National Union, a recognised charitable organisation in the UK. The SNU’s mission is to promote Spiritualism as a “Religion, Science, and Philosophy.” Leaflets on various topics are available in the church library for those seeking more information.     Join Minister Matthew Smith for a FULL-DAY theoretical and practical workshop designed to help you understand how YOUR own mediumship functions. Suitable for all levels of ability, this day will help you explore the tools and awareness needed to become a CONFIDENT MEDIUM.

    You’ll explore:

    • Imagination – fact or fiction?
    • helping you build the power within
    • The importance of focus and intention
    • Understand that evidence of survival is not "a generic list," it is individual with pertinent meaning

    About Matthew:

    Matthew Smith has been a professional medium and tutor for over 40 years. 

    He began his journey at Bitterne Spiritualists’ Church and has worked alongside many of the great mediums of the last century. 

    His approach is rooted in common sense and practical spirituality. As a teaching medium, Matthew will connect with you to support your development and unfoldment as a Spiritual Medium, serving both sides of life

    while supporting the local homeless shelter.

    Philosophy Evening

    Join us for a thought-provoking evening as we explore the deeper meaning behind spiritual philosophy. This gathering is an opportunity to reflect, share ideas, and connect with like-minded people on a journey of understanding.


     Whether you're new to spiritualism or have been walking this path for years, this evening promises insight, discussion, and inspiration. Together, we'll delve into profound questions that resonate with the heart and soul.

    Come and enjoy our Coffee Morning on the last Saturday of every month.

    Meet new friends, enjoy a hot drink, and take part in our spiritual activities.

    •  Private readings – £10 for 20 minutes

    All are welcome — whether you’re just curious or seeking a peaceful space.
